The thing about Kopi Aunties

A discussion came up with my Mi just now. He was having cough and feeling heaty. So he orderd :
auntie : what drink you want?
Mi : one coke and one “jia jia”
Actually, coke and coca cola are the same right? Cause base on Wiki, coke is also a fuel……… nevermind that.
And so the kopi aunty knows the “jia jia” refers to “jia jia liang teh” and the “coke” is plainly coke.
And so the discussion was, is it a standard unknowing being set, that all the aunty will go for the “orginal flavour” or the “most commonly orderd”, instead of asking “jia jia bundung” or “jia jia chrysanthemum” or “jia jia winter melon” and “diet coke” or “coke lime” or coke vanilla”…………..
Or was it being unknowing set, that we the consumers should be the one to clarify the exact flavour we want?
So it should be we saying : “one vanilla coke” instead of the kopi aunty asking us first “coke what flavour” ????
Interesting right?
I think by right, if we wanted vanilla coke, we should tell the aunty, “one vanilla coke” instead of simply “one coke”. Then if she comes back with a plain “coke”, whose fault would that be? Do we complain that as poor service?
But then let’s say now we use a plate of “carrot cake” for example, the hawker will always ask us “white” or “black” if we do not tell them right? They won’t just take it as standard and fried you a plate of black one when you actually had white in mind.
Or because “carrot cake” simply just got 2 options, so it’s easier to ask? And that the drinks are too many flavour, it will be too tedious to ask each and flavour, which you want, so they simply make it simple and give you the most ordered one, and if you want another, you got to tell them first?
Very cute hor? Just a simple thought…………..
