Half the world will be in darkness next Wednesday !

    By Ms Chor Lor | July 17, 2009 | 52 views

Half of the World, from India across China to the Pacific Ocean will be in darkness with no Sun in broad daylight morning!

This event had set many citizens in China, India and even Philippines getting ready for Wednesday.

There are even groups of tourists flocking to this countries and towns specially just for Wednesday!

As it will be the longest eclipse lasting for about 5 to 6 minutes. Though an eclipse is said to occur about every 18 years, a long duration eclipse will only happen once in many many years! Which the next one is predicted in 2132. Most eclipse do not last longer than 5 minutes.

However, the sad thing is, Singapore happens to be too far from the Sun on this day, so we are not able to witness this eclipse! But will we actually experience that darkness? I’m not sure seriously…………….Let’s wait and see next Wednesday.

While China will be the closest country to the Sun on that day, China is the best place to view the eclipse.

According to the prediction of Singapore, the eclipse will occur next Wednesday between 8.41am to 9.43am. And the ‘dark’ period will be at around 9.11am.

So mark the date and time on your calendar! And watch the sky next Wed !
