Gay Kissing photo on Washington newpaper causes outcry

The Washington Post posted the photo of a gay couple kissing on their front page last week, on the day when Washington approves same sex marriage.
However, many people wrote in and complained about the photo, that it should not be on the front page. There were also people who cancelled their paper subscriptions over the photo.
However, the papers internal ombudsman defended in saying photos capture reality. And the photo on the front page shows the historic significance of the change, that same sex marriage is now possible.
Same sex marriage was approved in Washington last Wednesday when the first 3 gay couple tied their knot on that day, and about 150 couples expected to get their marriage licenses.
The first couple queuing up for the application that day was a lesbian couple.
